The beginning of our journey. Leaving Marina di Pisa.

On September 7 at around noon we untied our lines in Marina di Pisa. The day we have been waiting for. The day we have been dreaming of for such a long time. Our motivation to keep going on hard days. We finally made it! We started the biggest adventure of our lives!

We are more than thankful that this day has arrived. It was a cloudy afternoon, but warm, and after our departure the wind died so we had to switch on the engine. Two hours later, the wind picked up again and we set our sails on a very pleasant beam reach with around 10 knots of wind. Johanna started to run in the waves on the way to our first anchorage on Capraia Island. She must be happy to be sailing again – like us! What an incredible feeling! With a tear in our eyes we were watching mainland Italy and the lovely village of Marina di Pisa getting smaller and smaller at our stern. We wave goodbye and look forward to our journey just in front of us.

I don’t know how many times we drove the way from Munich to Pisa, how many thousands of kilometers we spent on the road, how many weeks we were living on the shipyard. But we exactly know how many friends we have made. Many days of hard work had many moments of sunshine. We met so many great people and we are more than thankful for their welcoming friendship and support.

A special thanks definitely goes to the best Gelateria we have ever experienced. If you should come to Marina di Pisa one day, please go to Macumba on the main street, just opposite of the Conad supermarket, get some ice-cream and say hi to Maura and Alessandro, two awesome people who make the best traditional Italian ice-cream in the world.
